Young Art Explorers Ages 3 years - 5 Years
10:00 am – 11:00 am Ongoing Class Starting November 2th: Wednesdays
Preschoolers with their parent or caregiver explore the world of art through hands on activities using a variety of media such as clay, paint, paper, and more. This class is geared for ages 3 years through 5 years and will provide sensory experiences to spark creativity and imagination while working on development of fine motor skills and language. Be prepared to be messy!
Class enrollment is limited to 4 preschoolers.
Tuition: $15 per class
Barbara Halbert, preschool educator and artist, has had extensive experience discovering the joys of creativity with young children. With a BA in Psychology and MLS in Library Science, she has spent many rewarding years working with preschoolers.
Children Art Classes Ages 6 - 13
Classes ongoing
Join us for kid art activities at a real art studio. These classes meet for one hour once a week and will continue throughout the school year. Various art activities, techniques, and basic art concepts will be explored. Learn while having fun. Painting, drawing, watercolor, paper mache, collage, wire sculpture and mosaics....these are just a few of the activities. Enrollment is limited. Need a class on a different day at a different time for your child or group? Please contact the studio.
Session 1: Ages 6 - 8, Thursdays, 4:00 - 5:00 pm
Session 2: Ages 9 - 13, Thursdays, 5:30 - 6:30 pm
Session 3: Ages 9 - 13, Tuesdays, 4:00 - 5:00 pm
Tuition: $15 per class
Special Art Activities (Coming Soon!)
These classes are perfect for kids that want to participate in art activities but do not want to take a class each week or are interested in just working with a specific medium. Each class is two hours long and the students will complete a project to take home in each class with the exception of Clay Day. Sign up for one or more classes. Enrollment is limited. Cost: $22 per 2 hour class (Clay Day total cost $40)
Paint Day
Animal Portrait: In this class the students will create an animal portrait using acrylic paints on a canvas. Students will learn to paint a background, transfer drawing or image to canvas, and use basic painting skills to create their own work of art.
Watercolor Wonders: In this class the students will learn the basics of working with watercolor. Depending on the age group, the students will create one to three watercolor paintings using a variety of techniques such as painting wet paint on dry paper, and wet on wet.
Mosaic Day
Piece by Piece Mosaics: Students will learn the basics of making a mosaic by constructing a beautiful mosaic picture within a wooden frame using tiles, found objects, glass, pebbles and other items from nature. Using non toxic glue and a dry stack method, piece by piece the design will be revealed!
Paint and Collage
Creative Collage: Using acrylic paint and papers and images, the students in this class will learn the basics of collage artwork by constructing a collage on a canvas. Lot of papers and pictures are available at the studio but if you some favorite images or pictures, please feel free to bring them to add to your collage.
Beading
Just Bead it! In this class the students will learn some basic beading techniques. Depending upon age of the student, a necklace or necklace and bracelet will be made. Students will have a variety of beads to choose from and will use beading boards to design their original jewelry.
Clay Day (2 sessions)
Clay Creations: Using handbuilding techniques and simple clay tools, students will learn the basics of working with clay. Techniques such as pinching, coiling and slab construction will be covered. After their creation has dried and been fired, the students will need to return for a second class in order to complete their project.
